Behind the Scenes at Mission Serve- Meet the FBC Construction Project Leaders

Over 160 students from across the country are spread out across the Wilmington area this week as they serve our community by working on homes selected by Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM). First Baptist member Keith Miller serves as the Construction Project Leader and his team of project coordinators, Tim Kellerman, Brett Queen, Donnie Overby and Craig Underwood have been hard at work  guiding and overseeing the ministry work of each of the 15 work crew teams! We caught up with a few of them at the end of the day and asked the question ‘Why do you serve?’…

Keith MillerKeith Miller– Well actually my son experienced Mission Serve last year through our Youth going to Dallas. When he came home he said, “Dad I signed you up for something!” That was the start of my involvement but honestly it is a pure joy to be with the kids and give back in this way. I do this for a living and it’s really powerful to be able to figure out how to give my time in this way for God.

Tim Kellerman– We pray for opportunities to share Jesus and this opportunity is simply a gift from God. It is such a blessing to work with these amazing kids and to be able to show them and teach them to do things they never thought they could.

Brett Queen- Having served on various mission trips here in the US and in other countries, I know the value of having people that know the area that have served us through the years. I wanted to take this opportunity to assist the folks that came to help our city. I feel that anything we can do to make their time here more efficient and more enjoyable helps them to concentrate on being the hands and feet of Christ in our community.

“We ought not to be weary of doing little things for the love of God, who regards not the greatness of the work, but the love with which it is performed.” ― Brother Lawrence, The Practice of the Presence of God
